I think I've heard maybe a few religious guilds recruiting before, and maybe a couple more arguments in local chat. It's not that big of a deal.

I'm fine with these guilds recruiting. I'm fine with character names like "Jesus love u" or whatever they chant. I'm even ok with the whole "Find Christ or go to hell!" thing in local chat. I get enough of that stuffed down my throat in real life, so it doesn't really bother me when some fanatic on an MMORPG starts yelling it at me. Some people really need to learn to ignore things....

Sure it's spam an annoying, but if I don't want a jewish guy or a black guy or a mexican or a white guy or whoever in my guild, and want to single them out, why can't I? It's not a workplace, so it's not against the law to discriminate them from joining the guild.

Now, I myself don't care if you have an ass growing on your arm, but people have their beliefs and want to keep it to themselves.

If they were saying "Jesus is our savior and F*** muslims", then I'd have a problem, but if they are simply recruiting christians, muslims, jews, or whatever and no one else, let them!

/not signed as long as any group that has any affiliation can also do it, no matter how much it may be hated in the real world.

/signed if that does not apply.

Forbidding religious play/promotion is flirting with disaster. I don't like them either, but can you imagine the negative-publicity crapstorm this would produce? Anything becomes 100 times more controversial and damaging when religion is inserted into the equation.

Just let the deluded little biblethumpers have their tiny soapboxes, and ignore them.

Internet Evangelism. Who knew?

Just ignore them unless they start spouting nonsense and abuse at people.

I believe a.net could be sued if they banned everyone who was making guilds for xxxxx religion. Because it'd be basically banning anyone for that religious belief. So odds are they won't do anything. We don't need a virtual holocaust.

For all those who say its your right to say whatever you want to whoever you want... go into a police station and start insulting and harrassing the police there... see how fast your precious freedom of speech is limited.

Its absolutely no different ingame. You have freedom of speech as much as you want, as long as you dont insult or harrass people.

And to the OP.

/signed for the spaming of religious beliefs, because that should be kept to R/L or private guild/alliance chat if it is tollerated there and the purose of the guild/alliance.

/notsigned for the "<insert religion> guild recruiting, please only <insert religion> apply" or so. Thats the whole point of guilds and groups, thats where true freedom of speech cuts in. And deffinitley no restriction as to which religion should be allowed to form a guild.

Spamming is spamming.
Slander is slander.

Anything else is just fine. Folks should be free to make whatever guilds and recruit however they'd like as long as they don't spam or slander.

I've been caught up in a couple religious debates, entertaining but generally gives a bad view on your opposite view. Gets too personal. So yeah... I don't like having stuff shoved down my throat, and it doesn't matter who you are and what thing you're shoving. Open your minds a bit .

I don't mind belief-based guilds though. First of all, a guild needs something in common to stick together, may it be an all-necro guild, or an all-Christian guild, or a PvP-only guild. However, I wouldn't see an anti-Christian guild recruiting. I guess as long as you don't offend, or create in the intention to offend other people... everything goes.

Please elaborate?

The Christian guild not want to answer my question is their right to do so, which if they had answered yes, I would have join, because i was thinking that I don't have to use a swearing filter in the guild chat anymore. but sadly they did not answer. I consequently joined some other guild, I DID NOT HAVE A GUILD AT THAT TIME, see... I really did want to join them. but hey, they did not want to have none-Christian in their guild and it is up to them, their choice and their lost, I give guildies lots of materials and greens and lets just say when ever my storage is full I give stuffs away I also help guildies do so mission all the time, its their lost.

God loving every one is my point of view, so what is the wrong in that?

I'm tired of it. It should be against the rules. I'm tired of conservatives going it's okay to say "I LOVE JESUS" but it's wrong if you say "I HATE JESUS."

My Dervish is named Atheist Dervish for the reasons of not believe in the "Gods of Guild Wars." However, I'm afraid he'll get banned. Christians will attack me for his name. It's annoying.

Spamming sucks, but people can recruit whoever they want as far as I'm concerned. I'd just as soon know that the guild I was considering joining was populated by the kind of Christian that feels the need to broadcast that he's a Christian every five minutes... so I can find a different one to join.

You know, I had a friend of mine who played Guild Wars once. Then, she said God came to her in her dreams and told her Guild Wars was against him. So, she quit. All her work, she left.

God claims another victim...

No offense Raenef, and I realize I may be making a statement of the obvious here, but... your friend is bat-spit crazy.

This is kind of ridiculous. Guilds can recruit however they want, saying whatever they want unless it is slanderous (wouldn't it be libel since it is written and not actually spoken). So Christian guild recruiting bla bla bla Jesus loves you is fine. don't like it, go to a different district/turn off all chat. If it was Christian guild recruiting bla bla bla Muslims go burn in hell, then there would and should be problems.

I would never join a guild just because they were claiming they were Christian, I am a Christian but I dont feel then need to run around a computer game looking for converts.

Just as many of the countries in the world that call themselves democratic are nothing of the sort, many "Christian" groups are anything but Christian in their dealings.

Best way to find a guild is to play with a few of their membership for a while before joining.

Thankfully I havn't come accross any of these groups as yet, I am hoping thay are all on the American server and wont get to the European one for some time yet.
Must have a word with some of my Pagan friends, and see if they are starting a multi pantheonic religeous guild.

No politicians though, we must have some standards
